Stock Trading Strategy: A Better Understanding Of Pinging

Even traders who enjoy success don’t change styles of trading as the conditions of the market change; they find a pattern that usually brings success and they just stick to it . During those times when their style is not compatible with the market and they lose , they accept the loss and say that that is the way the breaks go . They seem to think their stock trading strategy all possibly trade styles, but this isn’t right.
If traders are able to figure out the market state, that is, the type of trading going on now and the type of trading expected , he or she can improve their returns very considerably . This is because one will never be applying trend trading techniques when congestion trading .
There are still those times when the state of the market is a bit ambiguous . If everything were clear no market would exist, since traders wouldn’t have different opinions , and trading in the same direction would be done by everyone all the time.
One such ambiguous state is when a trend seems to have exhausted its energy and is ready for a turn , and the indicators of momentum roll over and appear that they will go to congest entrance from trend . But the signals are not quite clear enough to go all in on a big position.
Under these circumstances traders can go with pinging. Pinging is an attempt to hedge your bet a bit . The anticipated turn is where they place their single direction trades , but they don’t hold them too long , and get out when they see a sign of lower time period support. At turning points the market frequently manifests “pumping” action , with comparatively large and volatile swings in both directions as traders of differing opinions around the world take positions against each other . When pinging, a trader can repeatedly go with multiple positions as the market movement goes from support to resistance and then back. Instead of riding the market both ways, and rather than placing a large bet on the anticipated new direction and holding on for dear life , it is as if stock trading strategy to the trader that he could “ping” the market , going with one direction only small positions, and being willing to quickly and early cover when short term support is reached by the price.
Significant profits can be a result of pinging and it has the trader closely in contact with the market as this battle moves forward between the longs and the shorts. Pinging keeps traders protected from too-early’s , will allow profits to be brought in even when the market is confusing when there is uncertainty about the direction and ending the trend may result in failure . Pinging will let a trader position himself such that when the new trend does settle in and become well established , they’re already on board with it. So when seen properly , stock trading strategy pinging as a method of entering the market when the trader is not yet 100 percent certain about the market’s next direction .

1% Gain Daily is a simple but under appreciated stock trading strategy that many successful traders have used to become millionaires. Now, you can also use this stock trading strategy to make a windfall gain in one year. There are two things in this stock trading strategy; gain and duration.

Suppose, you have a trading strategy that gives you a 1% gain on your portfolio daily. There are 252 trading days in one year. This 1% gain daily translates into 252% gain annually on your portfolio. If you factor in compounding at 1% average gain daily, this translates into 1,127% profit in one year. If you start with a $10,000 stock portfolio, this means $112,740 profit in one single year.

Now, many investors are still hooked to the buy and hold mentality. You have just seen above that a small repeatable gain daily can turn a small portfolio into a windfall gain by the end of the year. The best way to achieve this 1% gain strategy is to trade penny stocks. Penny stocks are mostly volatile and you can try short term investing with them.

The key to this strategy lies in focusing on your exit strategy before you make an entrance in the market. In other words, you should focus on the sell signal before your enter into a trade. You should have target exit prices and stop loss levels in mind for any trades that you make. The best way to practice this 1% daily gain strategy is to open a demo account with your broker and paper trade for sometime.

This will help you train yourself with frequency trading on your demo account using real market data. You will learn how high frequency trading works without you risking your capital. Whatever, with this simple 1% daily gain strategy, you can make a windfall gain by the end of the year.

Investing in stocks is not like playing a game of blind man’s buff; neither is it a matter of trial and error. If you leave your earnings to chance or luck, you are more likely to lose than gain.

If you want to make money from stocks, you must draw a carefully considered plan. You have to create a stable, long-time, profitable investment strategy. The best and the most popular options are the low-cost index tracking exchange-traded funds-ETFs. The ETFs are, in fact, securities that track an index or follow the performance of a group of stocks. They trade like regular stocks. The only and the important difference is that you have to pay minimal expenses for trading. It is, therefore, convenient and cheap to buy and sell the ETFs. Since they follow indexes like the NASDAQ 100 or the Standard and Poor 500 to track a bunch of different stocks, they are automatically diversified. Here’s a great ‘ten simple steps’ stock trading strategy which you can use to maximize your trading profits whilst at the same time minimizing risk to your trading capital. If you already do your own trading and can set automatic buy/sell orders then this strategy is perfect for you.

No matter which stock trading strategy you read about or try, they all share one fundamental principal, that is to buy low and sell high. Sounds simple enough, but then why do some 95% of traders manage to get in and out of the market at the wrong time, over and over and over again?

What over-powering force is in place which steers the 95% to do this? The answer is human nature and the counter-intuitive manner in which the stock market operates.

The 5% of traders who consistently make money in the stock market do so by buying when the masses are selling, and selling when the masses are buying.

They do this by following a dozen or so strategies, some simple, some more complicated. It is not in the scope of this article to go into each and every strategy, but here’s one anyone can use.

The Ten Steps Strategy Review:

1. Study the 12 month charts of several reasonably well known companies and pick out stocks that have been in a steady UPWARD trend throughout the period. There are always plenty of them, even in a falling market.

No stock is ever a sure thing, but give yourself a head start by choosing one which is going in the right direction! Fundamentals don’t mean anything if the price of your chosen stock is trending downwards. Don’t care what the company is or what it does. This is irrelevant, you are just here to make money, period.

2. Check out the trading volumes and eliminate any which lack decent liquidity.

Avoid stocks with not much liquidity (not a lot of buyers/sellers) as you need to be able to get in and out easily and without effecting the price yourself.

3. Study the 3 month chart and check the recent levels of resistance. These are points where the stock price has peaked and then pulled back, before breaking new heights again.

4. Place a mental note to buy at a price just above the most recent top. Note you are not actually buying at this point, just making a mental note to buy when it hits this price.

The stock will need to reverse upwards again and ‘break through’ that last resistance level to effectively ‘buy you in’.

If the stock price does not reverse but instead further drops away, simply lower your ‘mental buy order’ to just above the resistance levels going down and wait for the stock to turn back upwards again.

The great part is the more it drops the better as you have still not bought in.

If it is a well known company and there’s temporary bad news surrounding it (anything except impending closure) you can be sure this stock will eventually bounce back and catch up with (or even temporarily over-take) its long term trend.

When it does it will catch up quickly, over a few weeks perhaps. Follow the next steps and you will be sitting on it all the way up to next top. Gains as much as 30% are common.

5. When the stock price eventually reverses direction back up and passes up through your buy order, immediately buy at market price.

6. Now set your stop loss. Study the last couple of months of the chart and check the rising levels of support. These are points where the stock has resumed its upward direction following a pull back.

7. Place a ‘note to sell’ at a price just below a recent support level. Not too close but not more than 5-8% below your buying price. Your sell order is now your stop-loss.

I cannot stress more – you MUST use a stop loss. Your stop loss will protect your capital if the stock unexpectedly reverses down again. You can always get back in later when it recovers from a very deep pull back (and make even more money in the process).

8. As the stock price moves up, but as soon as reasonably possible, move your stop loss (sell order) up to your buying price. Your stop loss is now your break even. Don’t do this too soon as the stock price may possibly test the support level above your stop loss before heading up again. Give it a few days to do that if it’s going to.

9. As the stock price continues up, keep trailing your sell order up with it to just below the support levels going up.

10. When the stock price reverses direction and passes down through your sell order, immediately sell at market price. Your sell order is now your stop gain.

On a final note, one of the greatest obstacles to success will likely be you. One of the hardest things to do is to actually sell when your stop is triggered. There’s always the voice in the back of your head telling you to hold on a bit longer if the price moves against you. This could be the death nell of your trading because if the price continues to fall it will erode your trading capital.

To counteract this danger you should try to automate many of these processes. Set your stops and if the stop is triggered you can find out why afterward.

Have you ever wondered why some people are able to invest in any financial instrument or property at a low price and why you have always missed the boat? This article explains the importance of understanding why contrarian investing works and how having such a mindset can help you make more money as part of a larger investment strategy.

1.Value Investing mindset

Before one can profess to be a contrarian investor, you must have an understanding of the underlying value of the thing you are buying and decide that it is undervalued and historically and the market will rebound within a good period. A good book to start reading on value investing in the stock market is “The Intelligent Investor”, by Benjamin Graham who was Warren Buffets’ Professor in Columbia University and helped shape his investment strategy. So because you know the usual market value of something, you can purchase it on the cheap when prices drop , not unlike shopping for discounts at a supermarket.

2.Look out for downturns

Another key indicator is to understand your market well and then pay a careful attention to downturns in the economy or freak incidents like September 11. Some investments do down in value due to macro economic factors that may have nothing to do with your particular investment. A contrarian investor would spend time looking for ominous signs in the papers which may lead to a downturn so as to purchase stocks, shares at a discount to the average price.

Downturns that can prove profitable include:

• Natural Disasters that have nothing to do with the underlying stock.
• Cross Border Disputes affecting a particular Company’s price which has nothing to do with its main operations.
• Wars and Hostilities that can affect the competitors of your current favourite stock.

3.Look out for excessive exuberance

Contrarian Investors know that downturns can also be profitable if you use Put options which pay you when the underlying stock declines in price? The best way to predict such a downturn would be to look for in the words of the former Chief of the Federal Reserve Allen Greenspan, “excessive exuberance”. This means basically that while prices are still rising furiously, the number of buyers would start decreasing and a market correction might follow.

Some indicators of such excessive exuberance include:

• When you see financial analysts being very rosy on highly speculative stocks.
• When the stock market indexes start rising close to record highs.
• When you notice that trading volume diverges with the price, meaning that while prices are rising, the trading volume is dropping.

Contrarian investing is thus a mindset where the individual looks for trading opportunities which can yield profits. A contrarian investor thus looks out for economic, political and other factors which can cause a large market movement in the particular financial instrument that he is trading in and can make a large capital gain from his investment. This form of investing can be part of a larger investment strategy and one should consider contrarian investing as part of his online investing warchest today.
